1. Eligibility:

• The Data Challenge is open to individuals and teams interested in addressing chronic child malnutrition using data-driven solutions.
• Participants can be professionals, students, researchers, or anyone with an interest in the challenge's objectives.
• Participants must adhere to the rules and guidelines outlined in this document.
   

2. Team Formation:

• Teams can be formed with a minimum of two participants and a maximum of four participants.
• Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to promote diversity of thought and expertise.
   

3. Data Usage:

• Participants will have access to a dataset provided by the sponsor institution, which contains demographic information, nutritional data, and related information. Survey data and other relevant sources may also be accessible.
• All data provided for the challenge can only be used for the purposes of this competition and should not be shared or used for any other purposes.

4. Solution Submission:

• Each team must submit their proposed solution by the specified deadline.
• Solutions should include a detailed blueprint of the architecture and data flow, methodology sketches, a realistic demo, and an implementation outlook.

5. Expert Support:

• Teams can seek guidance and support from expert mentors and judges throughout the challenge.
• Expert mentors will be available to provide assistance and answer questions related to data science, nutrition, and the challenge objectives.

6. Evaluation Criteria:

• Solutions will be evaluated based on their creativity, effectiveness in addressing chronic child malnutrition, real-world applicability, and feasibility.
• The judging panel will consist of experts in data science, nutrition, and related fields.

7. Prizes:

• The winning team will receive a formal reward of 1000 USD, and the runner-up will receive 500 USD, both sponsored by REDNI.
• The USFQ School of Business will provide academic recognition to the winners.

8. Application Process:

• Interested participants can indicate their commitment to participate through the conference registration form.
• Participants who are not attending BigSurv23 but still wish to participate can apply directly via the provided application link.

9. Important Dates:

• Application Deadline: October 9, 2023
• Notification of Acceptance: October 16, 2023
• Data Challenge Dates: October 25, 11 am - October 26, 10 am, 2023

10. Location:

• The data challenge will take place at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ).

11. Requirements:

• Participants are required to bring a personal laptop with relevant software (e.g., Python, R/R-Studio), and a willingness to collaborate and innovate.
• WiFi will be available, and refreshments will be provided to keep participants energized.

12. Agreement:

• Participants must agree to comply with the contest rules, guidelines, and any additional instructions provided by the organizers.
• By participating in the Data Challenge, participants acknowledge and accept these rules and guidelines. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant or team that does not adhere to these rules or engages in misconduct during the competition.
